George Vanderbilt probably never imagined that his home would one day serve as inspiration for the development of retail items, ranging from formal china to hand scraped hard wood floors. Today, just that is happening in Asheville, N.C., with the growth of Biltmore For Your Home branded products. Designers from across the United States are coming to Biltmore to scour the estate, looking for inspiration—perhaps an iron railing or stone carving detail—that will become the next top selling design for their companies.

In 1895, Mr. Vanderbilt made Biltmore House his home. He filled his 250-room chateau with souvenirs from world travels, paintings and sculptures from his favorite artists, and quirky treasures that caught his eye. When Vanderbilt entertained family and friends, he was the ultimate host and offered his guests the very best food and wine. It is his enduring legacy that guides Biltmore’s quality standards more than a century later.

Biltmore For Your Home is a program developed by the owners of America’s largest home to enable consumers to experience the comfortable sophistication synonymous with George Vanderbilt’s country retreat. The concept focuses on the ease of entertaining and hospitality extended to the Vanderbilts’ guests at the turn of the century. The Vanderbilts also created a comfortable living environment for the many families who worked and resided on the property, providing them with the means and encouragement to continue arts and crafts traditions indigenous to the Blue Ridge.

The program encompasses a broad range of lifestyles – ranging from the graceful elegance of an evening in Biltmore House to the simple savoring of the beauty of the 8,000-acre estate and all the horticultural and recreational offerings it afforded. Biltmore For Your Home includes representation in the categories of home furnishings, home building products, home and garden decorative accessories, bed and bath items, garden and nursery products and food and wine branded products.

Biltmore continues to be owned by Vanderbilt’s heirs and operates as a for-profit National Historic Landmark open to the public. Welcoming more than one million guests each year, the property includes the 250-room Biltmore House, gardens designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the most visited winery in America, a Farm Village that interprets the agricultural legacy of the property and the 213-room Four-Star, Four-Diamond Inn on Biltmore Estate.
